Delete your account

Deleting your account can't be undone. To make sure the request comes from you, we first email you a link to confirm. The lists below show what is deleted, what changes and what is kept.

Using the app? Please delete your account on this page. In current versions of the app, Profile → Settings → Delete Account shows “Incorrect password. Please try again.” even when the password is right, and the account is not deleted. This page also works if you can't sign in, or if you signed up and never used the app.
  1. Enter the email address you use for RiseRally.
  2. Open the link we email you. It works once and expires in 24 hours.
  3. Press Delete my account permanently. Nothing is deleted before this step.
  4. We delete your account straight away and email you when it's done. If something delays it, we finish within 30 days.
Use the email address you signed up with.
The team reads your feedback. It doesn't affect deletion, and it's removed from the request when the request is closed.

What happens to your data

This is what happens when your account is deleted.

Deleted

  • Your account: email address, username, password, profile, onboarding answers, settings and sign-in sessions.
  • Your training: workouts, programs, schedules, check-ins, goals, stats, achievements and coins.
  • Connected services: the connections and the data synced through them.
  • Your social activity: posts, comments, likes and cheers, friendships, friend invitations you sent, and blocks and reports that involve you.
  • Messages you sent in conversations and chats.
  • Group workouts and series you organise. People who joined keep their own workout logs.
  • Your memberships of teams, challenges and other people's group workouts.
  • Recommendation data built from your activity.
  • Usage events the app stored with RiseRally.
  • Analytics profile at PostHog (EU), our analytics service: we ask PostHog to delete any profile stored under your analytics id, and PostHog completes this in the background. That id does not contain your name or email address.

Changed

  • Teams you own pass to the member who joined earliest. A team with no other members is deleted.
  • Challenges you created stay open for the people enrolled, without you as creator.
  • Conversations you started stay open for the other members, without you as creator.
  • Messages you sent to support: your email address, the subject, the text and any attachments are removed. Only the message category stays.

Kept

  • A record of your deletion request: its reference, the email address, its status and dates, so we can show the request was handled. The IP address and the reason you gave are removed. We delete this record 1 year after the request was handled.
  • What other people created, such as messages they sent in conversations with you and invitations they sent to your email address.
  • Error reports at PostHog (EU): when the app hits an error, it sends PostHog the error message with email addresses and access tokens removed, technical details of the error, your device model, operating system and app version, and possibly an approximate location that PostHog derives from the IP address. These reports are stored under a random device id that isn't linked to your account, so we can't find them to delete them.
  • Emails in our email account: the sign-up notice our team receives, which includes your username, email address and first name if you gave one, and copies of the emails we sent you, such as the deletion link and the message confirming the deletion.
  • Database backups still hold a copy of your data for up to 90 days. After that, those backups are deleted.
  • Permissions you gave RiseRally in your phone's settings or in another service stay until you remove them there.
